Known as a national Independence Day, Juneteenth is widely celebrated by Black Americans across the country. June 19th became the freedom day for enslaved people in 1865 when, after nearly six months, news of emancipation had spread nationwide. Becoming an official federal holiday in 2021, Juneteenth serves as an annual reminder of how far we have come, and how far we can go.
You can help support Black American entrepreneurs during this time by buying from Black-owned businesses- but don't stop there! Take this time to educate yourself on all that it means to be Black in America and what allyship with Black communities looks like.
