Beginning Thursday 3/26 the store will be open 12pm to 6pm.

March 19th 2020

As we navigate the continuous changes around us, we are adjusting some of our procedures to help to keep our shoppers and staff members safe and healthy
so we can continue to serve our community.

Effective today, March 19th, our store hours will be 9 AM – 7 PM.

We are asking our shoppers to help us by following the guidelines of social distancing while in the store. Please keep at least 6 feet between yourself and other shoppers and staff members while inside the co-op or in line waiting to enter.

In addition:
•    We are limiting the number of shoppers to 35 at a time inside the co-op (to maintain a combined shopper and staff count of 50 people).

•    For now, we are removing the baskets from the floor and will use shopping carts only. This reduces our sanitizing needs and creates distance throughout the store among shoppers and staff, especially at the checkout line.

•    A staff member will be stationed at the door to assist customer flow and shopping cart distribution. Please follow their instructions.

•    Please maintain a distance of 6 feet from others whenever possible.

•    Shopping carts are being sanitized after every use.

It is likely that there will be additional changes coming.

Stay connected here or via our Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram for the latest updates.

Please know that we are doing the very best we can to continue serving our community with healthy food during this time.
Our staff members are working very hard and balancing their personal needs with the needs of the store, please show them your appreciation.

It’s a tough time for all of us. Please be kind.

If we can be of assistance in any way, please don’t hesitate to write to us at leah@flatbushfood.coop.

March 18th 2020

Beginning Thursday March 19th our store hours will be 9am to 7pm until further notice.

March 17th 2020

In times of uncertainty, we know that many in our neighborhood look to Flatbush Food Co-op as a safe place to buy groceries and supplies for themselves and their families.
We are committed to supplying our community with the goods they need to stay nourished and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This situation is moving and changing very quickly, and we’re monitoring it continuously to ensure safety throughout our organization. Co-op leadership will continue to monitor developments and will follow guidance and advice provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as the NYC Department of Health to minimize and slow down the spread of the virus.

We are also working closely with our distribution partners to monitor changes in the supply chain should they arise. Due to an increased demand for grocery and household items, availability has been inconsistent on a number of products. We are working with our suppliers to keep the products you need in stock.

Our top priorities continue to be safety and service. We have taken the following steps to ensure the safety of our shoppers and staff:

·  We have asked any staff exhibiting symptoms of the illness to stay home, and to consult their healthcare provider for treatment directions.

·  We have increased the frequency of the sanitation of the store and we are sanitizing frequently touched items such as shopping carts, baskets and doorknobs regularly throughout the day.

·  We have made both alcohol-based hand sanitizer stations and nitrile gloves available for our shoppers.

·  To aid in maintaining social distancing, we are allowing only 50 persons (including staff) in the store at a time. Please allow yourself time for waiting to enter the store.

·  We have temporarily reduced hours to 9am to 9pm for the next week. We are seeking to reduce crowding by shifting more of our stocking to outside our business hours, and adding additional store cleaning shifts.

·  We have discontinued all in-store sampling and vendor demos.

·  We have temporarily suspended the use of personal containers for beverages and bulk items.

As the circumstances of the spread of coronavirus evolve, know that our community’s health and safety will be at the center of all our decision making.
