What's a Co-op?

Although most people are familiar with consumer co-ops such as ours, there are many other types of co-ops as well, such as producer co-ops (agricultural), financial co-ops (credit unions), housing co-ops, and worker-owned cooperatives.

The goals and missions of all types of co-ops are determined by their member-owners, but most (like us!) follow the International Cooperative Principles:

1) Voluntary and open membership
2) Democratic member control
3) Member economic participation
4) Autonomy and independence
5) Education, training and information
6) Cooperation among cooperatives
7) Concern for the community
