Customer and Member Service sign at Flatbush Co-op

The co-op is owned and democratically controlled by its members. You do not have to be a member of the co-op to shop at the store but, by joining the co-op, you become a part owner of our socially responsible business. Member-owners invest capital in the co-op that is used to purchase new equipment and operate the store on a daily basis. Member-owners also participate in decision making in the co-op, electing a Board of Directors at the co-op’s annual meeting.

Joining the Co-op is easy. Just come on over to the store and fill out a membership application. We'll take your picture--say "organic cheese!"--for your Co-op membership card and you'll be on your way. Application PDFPlease note that you will need to show this membership card whenever you shop in order to be eligible for member discounts or other member benefits.

Members are required to pay an equity share of $200 (refundable if you move out of the area), which can be paid in full or, if needed, in annually increments of as little as $25.

When you first join the Co-op, you'll also pay a one-time membership processing fee. This one-time fee is $10 if you're the only adult in your household or $15 if there are two adults in your household.
